Land tenure and restitution

As a member of the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform’s Panel of Land Reform Management Facility since 2008, NJP Attorneys has maintained active involvement in matters relating to:

  • The Restitution of Land Right Act (No. 22 of 1994, as amended)
  • Land Reform (Labour Tenants) Act (No. 3 of 1996)
  • Extension of Security of Tenure Act (No. 62 of 1997)
  • Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act (No. 19 of 1998)
  • Communal Property Association Act (No. 28 of 1996)
  • Appearing before the Land Claims Court on Restitution of Land Rights, where persons were dispossessed of such rights as a result of past discriminatory laws and practices
  • Conducting Due Diligence findings on dysfunctional communal property associations
